Labour, especially in a hospital, can be an extreme experience. How to soothe the body after all it has been through? “Utul” is a set designed to provide women with needed intimacy, regeneration, and knowledge to understand the rush of emotions after childbirth.

The future is about designing systems, not single products. The IVI System, then, is a holistic manifesto—the lamps are made to order, so no waste is produced. They can be personalized and recycled!

You can craft it, you can sit on it, you can repair it – that is the mantra of sustainable design. The wooden structure of the chair and the linen seat can be easily repaired to prolong the chair’s life cycle.

Set on saving the visual code of one of Gdańsk’s districts, currently in the process of revitalization, the designer turned to traditional materials and the history of the place. With the help of technology (scanners and 3D programming), she created new bricks imbued with old architectural details.

This set, inspired by authentic folk instruments, introduces children to the world of traditional Polish sounds and melodies. For tradition to inspire, it needs to be adapted to contemporary reality. Reinterpreted folk instruments look like delicious, colorful sculptures, inviting us to explore the sounds.

Why do we need religion? What does it mean to “believe”? What does it mean to contemporary Polish society? The subject defies frameworks and numbers, and so do the drawings based on statistical data.

Can Artificial Intelligence help us redefine how we see a female body? The publication is a satire inspired by the iconic Playboy magazine. At the same time, it explores the potential of the AI-generated erotic content. Will the fourth industrial revolution bring us emancipation and free us from stereotypes?

Is it possible to form an intimate relationship with more than one person at a time? Drawing on Deborah Anapol’s research, psychology, and her own reflections, the designer asks about normative societal roles in a visually appealing and scientifically sound manner.  

How do we touch pain? Our subjective and abstract perceptions of pain seem impossible to be measured or visualized. In treating children, however, it is important to be able to measure the intensity of pain as precisely as possible. The light structure of this object invites interaction and makes it possible to get the information we need. 

From the first to the last page, we follow two children: Aisha and Dele. She is fleeing the war; he is escaping the effects of climate change. The accessible format of the publication allows for these complex stories to teach us empathy and understanding by exposing us to others’ personal experiences.

Entering the shoes of a scrupulous observer of reality, the designer became the researcher whose experiments and painstaking notes led her to produce biomaterials from orange peels and egg shells. Do bio-shoes stand the chance of being manufactured?

Will the attendees of future banquets flaunt algae bags and shoes made from the biodegradable PLA? Biomaterials created from PLA and spirulina are believed to become an alternative for leather and plastic goods. Would you wear it?
